Roscoe's "Girlfriend" Mia

Here is a picture of Roscoe's new "Girlfriend" Mia.
She is a Bichon Havanese and weighs just over 3lbs.
My Florida Sister, Liz Escalante, & family brought her to their home in Coconut Creek Florida yesterday, Friday January 30th 2009.
Roscoe is a Bichon Shitzu mix, aren't they perfect together? Just look at their pictures. We can't wait to meet her in person this year!
Expect more "couples" pictures to come in the near future.

Cassie's Final Cake Project

Cassie just completed her final cake project for her 1st Wilton Cake Decorating Class. Her theme was Roses.
For the class, she baked all her cakes herself, leveled and stacked them, made the frosting & icing from scratch, including the color combinations.
She's practicing away with the goal of creating her own cake for her upcoming Quincenera this year on December 19th!
Course 2 is next, with more pictures to follow...

For sooooo long, our country was filled with Hopelessness (Eight years sounds about right)
On Tuesday, November 4th 2008, during this speech, I cried. My tears were a result of mixed emotions, relief, happiness, pride in my country replaced the embarrassment and shame I carried for soooo long as an American (Eight years sounds about right) and Hope. Hope is a wonderful gift, apart from free will and unconditional love, hope is a human mainstay for life, this speech, this man, the voters of our country FINALLY gave us Hope.

On Tuesday, January 20th, one day after Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday observed, that Hope is realized, cemented and our country, although far from "fixed", can finally hold our heads up. We made a choice for change, to do the right thing, to think for ourselves and get off the bandwagon. President Elect, Barack Obama, will become President of the United States of America.
A historical night filled with hope, that one day, one of my own daughter's of mixed ethnicity, can grow to become the next President, a night filled with Hope that our country is headed toward the process of healing, hope that perhaps, after we have healed ourselves, we may use our power toward healing the wounds we've caused outside of our own boundaries....

HOPE is a wonderful GIFT!

Election Night Tuesday, November 4th, 2008Chicago, Illinois

"If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer...."

Today we spent the day at the snow! It only took a little over an hour to get there, about 75 miles away, and it was a perfect beautiful day. Luis, Cassie and Lexie had so much fun "tubing" down the hill. Mommy enjoyed watching them as I was relaxing in the "Snack Shack" in a cozy rocking chair with a cup of hot cocoa. Now that's the way to play in the snow!
